Global Circuit Balloon

Northwest Research Associates Internship - EMBEDDED ENGINEERING INTERN

January 2018 - Present

The global circuit balloon is a prototype for a high altitude balloon that will carry a payload that will be used to measure the global electric field of the atmosphere. This will be used in an attempt to prove that the current of the ionosphere is driven by lightning and thunder storms that occur in the atmosphere. The payload will accomplish this by using and biasing Langmuir probes. The data will be relayed via the Iridium Satellite Network using a RockBlock modem. The data will include GPS, pressure, internal temperatures, and Langmuir data and will appear on a custom website.
